EasyLunchboxes Review

July 23, 2013 by Christine Yoon-Taylor 78 Comments

I’ve used these lunchboxes so often and so long now that it’s about time to post an EasyLunchboxes Review. Although, those of you who have been following along with me will have know exactly what I think about them!

EasyLunchboxes Review

The Discovery of EasyLunchboxes

When Big Sis started Kindergarten, I packed the majority of her lunches because:

  1. she was pretty picky,
  2. I was worried about her tree nut allergies and
  3. school lunches just didn’t seem all that great.

Not wanting to use wasteful disposable plastic baggies and such, I used what seemed like a million different plastic containers on a daily basis. It worked just fine as far as not being wasteful went, but I got really tired really fast of washing those “millions” of pieces of plastic – EVERY DAY. That was about 3 years ago and that’s when I started off on my search for a lunchbox that would fit my needs and happened upon my first set of EasyLunchboxes. It was love at first sight and it is a love that’s still going strong!

I bought a second set about 6 months later after deciding I needed more. So now I have plenty to pack lunches for both Big Sis AND Little Sis, who has since joined the ranks of the cute little school girls. Even Daddy and myself on occasion. In addition, I actually keep some in the car for drive-thru lunches on-the-go. Though they aren’t typically supposed to last this long, mine have been going strong for 3 years and counting!

EasyLunchboxes Features

Let me add that this Lunch Box System is perfect for School, Work or Travel! Be sure to check out their webpage for more info (http://www.easylunchboxes.com/), but these lunchboxes are:

  • For Kids & Adults
  • Easy-Open, Kid-Friendly Lids
  • NOT LEAKPROOF (use Little Dippers for liquidy items)
  • NO BPA, Lead, Vinyl or PVC
  • Affordable, Durable & Eco-Friendly
  • Less Pieces, More Function
  • Easy Prep, Easy Cleanup
  • Nesting Containers Save Space
  • Safe for Freezer, Dishwasher and Microwave
  • Washable Cooler Bag

The EasyLunchboxes REVIEW

Cost – 5/5 stars

In terms of cost, Easylunchboxes are very afforadable. You get a set of 4 for a very reasonable price which makes it easy to own more than one set. And whether you order them through their website or Amazon, you still get free shipping which is really nice!

Durability – 5/5 stars

These lunchboxes are getting a full 5/5 stars from me because in the many years I’ve owned them and as many times as I’ve used them, I’ve only had 2 lids crack on me. As I mentioned earlier, mine have lasted far longer than what their website states so that’s a win in my book!

Useability – 5/5 stars

EasyLunchboxes are designed so that little hands don’t have issues opening and closing them on their own. If you have little ones, that’s a really nice feature to have for them, for you and especially for those teachers on lunchroom duty!

Leakproof – 3/5 stars

Also as their website states, EasyLunchboxes are NOT leakproof, so don’t pack anything liquidy in it! But they do offer leakproof snack containers which is a great work-around and far out-weighs the fact that the box itself isn’t leakproof in my opinion. That’s why I’m giving them a 3 out of 5 stars in this department.

Longevity – 5/5 stars

Longevity the way I see it is different from durability. Durability is how long will the lunchboxes last? But longevity is how long will my girls keep using them? Well, the answer to this is they STILL use them to this day (fast forward to high school), as long as they actually fit in their bags, because sometimes, they sadly don’t!

*Note: I’m updating this post in 2022 and couldn’t help but throw this part in. ; ) The rest of this post is left as-is, ie my perspective from when I first wrote this post on the original EasyLunchboxes. The company has since changed hands and still offers a variety of products, but I just haven’t tried out the new ones, because mine from 2013 are still going strong!

Those were my first lunchbox sets for my back then 3year old, which just had started Pre-K. I wanted the best lunchbox out there and somehow ended up seeing her site with those lunchboxes. I love the old colors&styles but since then…..which is 4years ago now….i love that they have improved the lunchboxes with extra stability and def.love the extra stylish colors now too. 🙂 My second son is using them too now…. and Its just a fabulous product. *a great gift idea too*

I got my lunch bags a couple years ago at boutique-y type store at a mall. THey are Stephen Joseph lunch bags I just fell in love it. Paid more than I normally would have, but they've lasted me way longer than the ones I bought at target several years ago. I've seen them pop up here and there, at other boutique-like gift stores (even saw them at a hospital gift shop once), but most recently saw some at Hallmark Gift shops, too!

I have to add that these type bags don't leave you with a whole lot of space with an Easylunchbox (ELB) in it, but i can fit what I need: A water bottle and bag of chips, etc whereas you'd have plenty of room for more in an ELB cooler. Also these won't keep your lunch upright like an ELB cooler would. But I make my lunches such that carrying them sideways won't mess anything up. 🙂
