Cooking Tip #1: Smushing sticky stuff (like cookie dough) into a pan

I’d like to share with you a quick tip I just remembered while baking chocolate chip pan cookies the other day. I don’t remember where I read about it many years ago but I had completely forgotten about it until just recently. Smushing sticky stuff into a pan, like cookie dough, without making a mess CAN be done!I’ve tried many different techniques over the years: dousing my hands in cooking oils, dusting things with flour, wearing rubber gloves (ungreased and greased) or wooden spatulas and spoons (also greased and ungreased) but each time it would still make a sticky mess. Then I tried this. I got my hand nice and wet, like ran it under the faucet for a couple seconds, and WOW! It worked! Not only did it work great on these cookie bars, it also worked great on Homemade Granola Bars. You will pick up a couple stray oatmeal flakes, though. And it EVEN worked great on Rice Krispy Treats! I’m a happyvballgirl and am excited to share my findings with you! : )

During the course of smushing sticky stuff into a pan, you will most likely need to re-wet your hand several times but that’s no biggie.

So remember, smushing sticky stuff into a pan may be a funny sounding tip, but it really works!

Thanks so much for stopping by! Feel free to make my day by leaving me a comment, following my blog via email, on Facebook or on Instagram. The more the merrier!
