I love Nana’s cooking. Nana is so fast and efficient in the kitchen and her food is always delicious. This Valentine’s Day, I made Nana’s Melt-In-Your-Mouth Baby Back Ribs. My hubby is typically the rib-maker of the family (like mother like son, right?), but this time, I decided to give it a whirl. The funny thing is, every time we make them, we have to call Nana for her “recipe”. Poor Nana, because we make them a lot! Well, this time, we actually took notes, so we won’t bug you anymore, Nana! Check out our meal: Valentine’s Day Eats.

Nana's Melt-In-Your-Mouth Baby Back Ribs

Course Main Course

Ingredients

  • Baby back ribs
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • Garlic Powder (optional)
  • Onion Powder (optional)
  • Water

Instructions

  1. Place in a baking dish/broiling pan and season with salt, pepper garlic powder and onion powder, if using..

  2. Set the oven to BROIL (aka 500 degrees F) and brown ribs for about 15-20 mins.
  3. Remove ribs from oven, add some water to the pan (about 1/2 an inch high) and cover.

  4. Set oven to 300 degrees F, return covered ribs to oven and cook for 3-5 hours. Check occasionally to make sure there's still water in the pan. If it's starting to get low, add some more.

  5. Turn the oven back up to 425, brush with your favorite BBQ sauce and bake for another 20-30 minutes, uncovered. Be sure to leave the water in the pan, otherwise, it'll start to burn. I used Sweet Baby Ray's BBQ Sauce for the first time and it was yummy!

  6. Remove from oven and enjoy!

Melt-In-Your-Mouth Baby Back Ribs

Nana usually cooks them for 2-3 hours, we often go as long as 5 hours. It just depends on how much time you have, but oddly enough, they always taste so good!  Check out nicely these turned out. So tender and oh so delicious. And they really do fall off the bone!

Thank you Nana for sharing your wonderful recipe and letting me share it on My Epicurean Adventures! You ROCK!!

Lastly, I’ve never noticed this until now, but there’s a distinct rib-eating face. Do you see it, too? 🙂

Has Nana ever advised you to take the membrane off the backside of the ribs?
