Thanks for a Happy Mother’s Day, Sweetie!

Gotta give a quick shout out to my sweetie who pampered me all day while he slaved away in the kitchen cooking breakfast, cleaning up, making lunch, cleaning up, making dinner and yes, cleaning up. LOL! There’s an epicurean in him that comes out every once in a while, and when it does, it comes out in a BIG way. So thank you, Sweetie, for all you did to make my day extra special.Breakfast of champions (and lucky me): Belgian Waffles using Aunt Jemima’s Complete mix topped with freshly picked strawberries from our local berry patch, topped w/ Cabot Real Whipped Cream (better than ReddiWhip!), scrambled eggs and bacon on the side. And of COURSE, a Cafe Americano. Yummo.

Happy Mother's Day

Girls got to fully enjoy this day as well. 😉

Here’s the incredibly awesome gift that Sweetie helped the girls make for me. Loved the things they had to say like “Let’s me eat candy”, “Cooks yummy food”, “Plays with me”, “Makes me feel better when I’m sick” just to name a few. The “Lets me eat candy/treats” came up a couple times. haha! Even though this man is as anti-crafts as you can get, he does some pretty awesome crafts w/ the girls (on occasion). Thanks Nana, for inspiring him!

Well, after he told me to “go upstairs and blog/relax or whatever” as he finshed up cleaning up from breakfast, guess what time it was? Time for lunch! LOL! That bacon (aka old school George Foreman w/o the removable grills) AND and waffle maker clean up is about as bad as it gets! I forget what he made the girls, but this is what I came downstairs to. Yummy.

In this salad: Spinach, matchstick carrots, broccoli slaw, sugar snap peas, mushrooms, grape tomatoes, walnuts, dried cranberries and a dash of balsamic vinaigrette.

After lunch and helping Big Sis out w/ a school project (FYI: no fun at all when someone has a cold, is running on lack of sleep from too many sleepovers/late nights and lots of soccer playing, but we survived – BARELY!), we went to the park w/ Sweetie’s Little Bro and his boys. Though I was urged to just hang out at home and enjoy the peace and quiet, it was too gorgeous of a day to miss out on a trip to the park w/ my sweeties, so off we went. The three of us adults basically sat at a picnic table chatting and watching the kids play.

The only time I lifted a finger today was thanks to my Bro-in-law. haha. We started talking about front-loading washers and how mold is sometimes an issue. Though we haven’t had issues w/ the typical front gasket getting yucky, he mentioned how he just happened to look in his soap loader and how nasty moldy it got. Made me think, though we are careful to keep the gasket dry and clean, I’ve never once looked in that soap well! Well, guess what I did when I got home? Looked, said “Eeeewwww” and cleaned that sucker out. See? I wasn’t a total slacker!

And dinner. Oh, yummy dinner. Baby back ribs and chicken. Guess which blog he went to get the recipe?!? Nana’s Melt-In-Your-Mouth Baby Back Ribs

Oh yeah, and LOBSTER tails, too!

He even made his own BBQ sauce AND we ate before 10pm! haha. 🙂 Here’s the recipe he used. Was a little on the sweet side, but it was still tasty. Actually, it was sweet w/ a kick of cayenne. Here’s the recipe he used: Allrecipes’ Big Al’s KC BarBQ Sauce.

Once again, the dinner was enjoyed by all and we discovered that Big Sis really really loves ribs  and that Little Sis loves lobster. Can you say “expensive dates”!?!!?

Needless to say, someone was exhausted by the end of the day, but strangely enough, someone else wasn’t! lol.

And finally, a pic of my sweeties, the reason I even get to celebrate this sweet day. Can’t believe how lucky I got w/ this bunch. ♥

Thanks so much for stopping by! Feel free to make my day by leaving me a comment, following my blog via email, on Facebook or on Instagram – the more the merrier!

Christine, aka happyvballgirl 🙂

I like Joey's face as she is tearing into that chicken leg. Animal! 😉 And you deserve the pampering.
